Meeting to Nominate a Candidate

Monday, May 8, 2000 at 7:30 p. m. at the Evergreen Seniors Centre, the Guelph-Wellington Riding Association of the Christian Heritage Party will meet to nominate a candidate for the next federal election. All Christian Heritage Party members of this riding please attend. Either we stand for principles of justice and fair government for every Canadians or we, our families and our neighbours live forever in regret.

Marks of a Good Leader

The Spring of 2000 A. D. finds members of the Christian Heritage Party of Canada anticipating a federal election within the next 12 months. Thoughts turn naturally to questions of political leadership and the quest for candidates has begun.

In selecting candidates and campaign teams, as in the choice of Riding Association executives, the question of good leadership necessarily arises. What are the distinguishing characteristics of the ideal C. H. P. candidate?

The personal qualities in our candidates should include a good grasp of the issues and a strong commitment to C. H. P. platform and policies. Oliver Cromwell sought army officers who "knew what they loved and loved what they knew".

2

The good political leader will not be daunted by the great challenge ahead. Instead, he or she will break it down into a series of small tasks and master them one at a time. A clear vision of the big picture needs to be complemented by an eye for detail.

The candidates we seek will not be given to hasty decisions. They will seek counsel of trusted confidants as well as the Lord's will in their decisions. They will not make hasty decisions, but they will stay with decisions once made. Military training taught the writer that a poor decision is better than no decision!

Our leadership at every level must have given proof of trustworthiness and reliability in their personal, family, church and community lives over time. They must be willing to submit to the party's integrity analysis. Pet theories and personal agendas have to be put to one side.

Our candidates should be good followers, as well as good leaders. They must be good listeners as well as good communicators. They should be good team players and know how and when to delegate. When we trust others to do a job, they usually come up (or down!) to our opinion of them.

Most importantly, our C. H. P. candidates for the first federal election of the third Christian Millenium should be men and women of prayer. We covet persons in whose lives the risen Christ is a reality.

Waterloo-Wellington Corner

We have enjoyed a number of successful events over the past 12 months and our Riding membership has more than tripled. Now we need to prepare for a Federal election campaign, which could come as early as this Fall. I am looking for potential candidates and for volunteers to serve on a campaign team. Donations for the campaign may be sent to: Hank Metzlar, R. R. # 7, Guelph, ON N1H 6J4. Cheques should be made out to C. H. P. and you can specify that this is a campaign donation on a separate sheet. Thank you for your generous support over the last year and as we approach the next election.

Intrusion into Christianity - editorial by Gord Truscott

A printer in Toronto named Scott Brockie was targeted by a homosexual-lesbian organization. They knew that he was a Christian with principles. The organization asked Mr. Brockie to print for them at his basement shop on King St. which is hidden in a large building in a rundown part of downtown. Mr. Brockie politely asked the homosexual-lesbian organization to find another printer. They took him to court.

The court found that Scott Brockie could practise his religion at home and at his church, but that he had no right to bring his Christianity into the workplace. Although Mr. Brockie was not discriminating against any one homosexual, the court appealed to the Human Right's Code which claims to make every person equal. So now the freedom of all Christians is subject to the judgement of the courts. The court fined Mr. Brockie $5,000 and ordered him to print for the homosexual-lesbian organization. Mr. Brockie's legal costs exceeded $20,000.

This ruling prompted me to write the following letter to Premier Mike Harris, Brenda Elliott, MPP Guelph-Wellington and Giuseppe Gori, Leader of the Family Coalition Party.

Mr. Mike Harris

Premier of Ontario

Fax: 416-325-3745

Dear Mr. Harris:

I am concerned about the ruling of the Ontario Board of Inquiry (Human Rights Code) against Mr. Scott Brockie of Imaging Excellence Inc. Will Progressive Conservative printers be forced to print material for the New Democratic Party? Paragraph 50 of the decision of H. M. McNaughton stated that: "providing a commercial printing service does not require Brockie or Imaging Excellence to be a part of the (Canadian Lesbian and Gay) Archives or to associate their name with its activities." This conflicts with a principal advantage of the printing business in advertising your work by printing your name or company logo on the material you produce or through being known to have completed certain work by association. Will Jewish printers be required to print for the Nazi Party of Canada? Will all printers be required to work for the National Man Boy Love Association provided that the boys appear to be of legal age? Will animal rights activist printers who oppose the wanton killing of animals be forced to produce advertisements of fur coats? Will vegetarian printers be forced into serving meat eaters?

Can a person in business no longer determine their hours of work, the type of contract they wish to negotiate and the clientele they will serve? Will those opposed to gambling be forced to print lottery tickets?

I look forward to your response to these sensitive issues which demand a keen sense of propriety and fairness for all parties involved.

Yours truly,

Gord Truscott

TIDBITS

By Hank Metzlar

In Sudan thousands have been displaced by the corruption of government and the ongoing persecution of Christians by Muslims. forcing many to flee to the mountains for refuge from attack. In Communist, Muslim and Hindu-run countries, Christians are restricted in terms of their freedom and live under the threat of persecution. Indonesia has become synonymous with upheaval and again Christians are often the targets of violence.

IT CAN'T HAPPEN HERE!! OH NO?

A Toronto printer was found to be discriminating under the Ontario Human Rights Code because he refused to accept a printing contract for a gay rights organization.

The Toronto School Board is in the process of introducing a new human rights code for its schools. This code has a so-called "zero tolerance" of homophobia, but the policy defines "homophobia" to include what it calls "bias in. the teaching environment" such as any teacher's conviction that heterosexual marriages are morally better.

The Surrey School Board in B.C. is being taken to court for respecting the wishes of religious parents not to approve a storybook with same-sex parents for use in kindergarten and grade 1.

Many responsible individuals in civil government are so taken up with being "politically correct" that they have become dead to the truth and as silent as the grave when faced with controversial issues such as abortion; they are silent when the children that have evaded pre-birth infanticide are herded into schools which teach them to rebel against all authority, beginning at the home; silent when parents are legally stripped of all rights to discipline and control their own children; silent when Christian prayers, ethics and morality are forbidden in the schools; silent when the baseless evolutionary "alternative" has the sole right to be taught in the classrooms of the nation; silent when mega-gambling is universally approved and, of course, allowed to become a source of vast government revenues; silent when the indiscriminate use of soft and hard drugs bid fair to become legalized; etc., etc.

And this calamitous silence is, my friends, PATHETIC!!
